What are some alternative treatments for Mesothelioma?
I’ve just found out that my step-dad was diagnosed and medical treatment doesn’t offer much hope. What else is out there? What produces measurable results?
Please don’t respond to my question if you’re only in the alternative medicine category to voice you’re objection to it’s practice. No one here cares.
The statics I’ve read put the fatality rate at about 88.7 percent. If you can get me some stars and put this on the starred question list… maybe you can help save his life.
It’s hard to accept that he’ll probably die. /cry
What are the advantages of contacting attorneys? My parents will have to decide how they want to handle any legal issues but I will take advantage of all resources available to me. It seems unlikely that the attorney will have much advice regarding alternative medicines.
Challenging my question is very inappropriate of you. Leave.

If they produced measurable results, they wouldn’t be alternative anymore.
Edit: I’m here to provide evidence and debunk fraudulent claims. If you want the advice of charlatans fine, but their lies should not go unchallenged.

why not contact mesotheliomaattorney.com and ask them for resources.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I wouldn’t cut allopathic medicine out completely. I think ideally in all situations, working with an MD and a naturopathic doctor is a good idea. That way you have the best of both worlds. Whether a naturopath is a certified physician or not varies from state to state. There are many naturopathic doctors that have experience treating cancer. Good luck to you and your family.

Ignore the “duck,” he has no experience in medicine and is a nuisance at best; a self appointed health policeman? A drug company hold over member? On the payroll of a drug company?
Mesothelioma is a very destructive problem that affects the ability of the lymphatic system to work well. I don’t have any experience with this problem specifically, but do have some suggestions that do not involve drugs or surgery. Cleaning up and detoxing the lungs are something I do have some experience with and have had some good success. People who were victims of that genetically engineered L-tryptophan product made in Japan a few years ago and suffered for years of coughing up chunks of lung, etc. have found some great relief in using alternative medicine. The main stream medical community had no solutions and many of those people died as a result.
There is a product that cleans the mucus glands and lungs like nothing else I have seen. A man that coughed chunks of lung for about 20 years found complete relief using this product. It is inexpensive and easy to take. It may be worth trying and along with other nutritional support for the immune system, you may have a chance at helping your dad.
E-mail me and I will get you the information if you are interested.
Watch for the swarm of Medi-Nerds to arrive and blast your question with their indoctrination.
EDIT: “Rhianna” You may be surprised, but no one is taking you seriously on this site from the many e-mails I get thanking me for my advice and telling me how their health has improved greatly from that advice. I’m finding most people are fed up with “modern medicine” that you are promoting and tired of spending 5 minutes with a doctor and then prescribed some pill to try and see if that works. Like the other poster here, we are not afraid of you in any way and the sad thing is that people you are here to harass, not to actually help people. It’s obvious what the so called “skeptics” and medi-nerds are here to do. Not one comment from that “peanut gallery” is being taken seriously by most people asking questions on this site. People are looking for ALTERNATIVES to medical people because it is NOT WORKING FOR THEM. The alternative treatments are working and I see this everyday.
good luck to you

I sent an email to you to avoid the harassment one can get on here. Please check your email.
Edit: Hardly afraid of you Rhianna. Simply trying to respect the questioner to keep any debate out of a topic so tragic (and as they have requested). Something that you are obviously unwilling to do. You will make a great doctor who believes they are a god – like many of them do – it’s right up your self rightious alley. You sure lack any compassion so I am at a loss as to why you ever became a nurse. Maybe you should become a doctor in an area of research where you could torture defenseless little animals. You shouldn’t be around real people.
EDIT: Rhianna, so blind. I have not turned this question into a debate about mesothilioma treatments or outcomes like you have done or have tried to do and are still trying to (see below for the cut and paste portion of the unprovoked answer of yours) Any potential debate that might arise from what I wrote in my edit was whether or not you (and the others) tried to turn this sensitive question into another opportuntity to slam alternative medicine or pro-alternative medicine members here and whether or not, (because you did exactly that in much of your original answer), indicates the presence of a cold cold heart. Also the presence of a motive that over-rides anything else: To slam Alt Med and those who dare use it in spite of your rhetoric.
(Yes, I could have emailed you about it ….so that you could apologize in private and explain for the umpteenth time that you know you can get harsh, abrupt, and seemingly uncaring…. Yet you keep doing it!! So yes, I have taken this opportunity – because the questioner ALSO has expressed dislike and disatisfaction towards the “skeptics” and their so-called answers – to call you out on your repetitive disregard.)

Which mesothelioma does he have? You haven’t given any details. There are two different types: Pleural mesothelioma has 3 different staging systems where as peritoneal mesothelioma has no established staging. The prognosis for both is quite poor to be honest.
There are different factors in each case that affect general prognosis. Since you haven’t provided much information, my answer is very general. There are mesothelioma specialists who have reported better outcome statistics than those you have quoted. Surgical treatment of mesothelioma often prolongs life, compared to those who don’t have it. Some studies also indicate that chemo, radiotherapy and biological therapies following surgery can prolong survival too.
In short, the actual outcome depends on exactly how advanced his cancer is. Mesothelioma is uncommon and the majority of diagnoses that are made, are made when the disease is already quite advanced. Often symptoms don’t start until the disease has progressed.
I wish I could give a more positive answer, but people like Onlymatch4u are not only incorrect in their answer, but they are also offering false hope, and that is disgusting and cruel. Sometimes the truth can be hard to accept, but we’ve all got to die sometime, don’t waste time looking for a miracle, spend what time is left with your step-dad.
In actual answer to your question, there are no proven alternative treatments. If it worked, it wouldn’t be alternative.
EDIT:
Ah, I see! The alties are now too afraid to post an answer! Why is this I wonder? Why can’t these people tolerate rational debate? Beyond cowardly! Apparently they did this with a cancer question I answered recently because I stated that I would be back to critique any nonsensical posts…this behaviour is typical of the alties, they hide away and throw their arms up in the air when challenged or hide behind draconian rules…like on various quack sites where people are removed if they dare to question some of the ludicrous claims made on there. To the poster, if what they are saying is true and works, ask yourself why these people do this? Why are they afraid to be challenged? Wilful ignorance must be confronted. Do you really think the type of behaviour they are demonstrating is the behaviour of rational, educated people? I love the way they claim that having their answers challenged is harassment.
@ Onlymatch4u: Your attack on Wise is ad hominem and you’ve then topped it off with a conspiracy fallacy….sigh.
EDIT
@ Flashflood: First, I didn’t say you were afraid of me personally, but you and your ilk appear to be afraid of rational challenge . If you really didn’t want this question to end up in a debate, then why have you edited your answer? You could have emailed me couldn’t you? You’ve basically contradicted yourself.
The original question was, “What are some alternative treatments for Mesothelioma” There are none, which I have stated in my answer. If I’m wrong, please show me some plausible data. I’ve also gone on to give him some factual, rational advice based on current data that we have available.
Secondly, No one is playing god here, we are just trying to keep it real, giving cancer patients false hope is abhorrent. I haven’t determined the “fate” of his step-father. -I’ve simply told him the likely prognosis is very poor (based on current data). I’ve been as sensitive (but realistic) as possible. You are clearly one of these Nurses who would rather be LIKED than RIGHT. What that means is, you will likely sit there giving your patients false hope and not do what is in their best interest. While it may be comforting, it won’t alter the reality of the situation.
” Maybe you should become a doctor in an area of research where you could torture defenseless little animals. You shouldn’t be around real people.”
Nothing I said in my answer warranted that comment, Flashflood. I actually find that comment quite shocking. I’m not going to dignify that with an answer, however based on that comment, I actually suggest you seek phyciatric evaluation.
I think I’m done here, Rhianna out.
(To the asker: I’m sorry your question has been turned into a debate, but wilful ignorance (from some of the responders) must be challenged. Please listen to the advice of the Doctors looking after your step-dad and please be careful of charlatans who will try to take your money, promising cures.)
EDIT
No, I haven’t said anything to you in private that I haven’t said to some of the other skeptics on here ao don’t try and make out like I tell you one thing and everyone else something different. In fact, I was just saying to Dave the other day (and Dave will vouch for this) that my answer to one of the vaccine questions came across as a bit harsh and arrogant. Dr. Frank actually urged me to change my “stupid” comment to “ignorant” as at least ingnorance can be rectified! Hey I was going to shoot with the stupid comment and after some of the other answers that question recieved later, I should have stuck with the stupid comment. This is valid criticism that I take on board and will try to rectify BUT my answer here wasn’t harsh…it’s factual.
I call a spade a spade, Flash, that’s just me, but nothing in this answer was unkind or whatever…the latter part of yours on the otherhand, bordered on disturbed….
“ALL that in your original answer….(at least the first I saw it…and with no edit notations) Do I have to point out use of the words ‘debate’ and ‘harassment’ along with the name calling?”
Ah back to the editing again are we, that was my original answer, if you are unsure, then I suggest you cut and paste my answer so there are no confusions. Those words you highlighted are not arrogant, harsh and neither can it be considered name calling. What I said, was fair comment.
EDIT
@ Onlymatch4u : The ONLY people that take you seriously are the deluded. No rational, educated person listens to you. You demonstrate a very backward way of thinking and you know NOTHING about science and medicine. Us skeptics get plenty of emails from various users thanking us for our help and advice and thanking us for preventing them being scammed by snake-oil salemen like yourself.
Not only is what you say scientifically unsupported and in many cases physiologically incorrect, your reasonings and justification are illogical and plain daft!
Yes I have gone against the askers wishes by giving answers he may not wish to hear, but I believe concernng postings by the alties must be challenged. He does not HAVE to listen to us. He has a choice.

Unfortunately you are laying yourself open for exploitation from a huge amount of scammers. The way they descend on sick people is very disturbing.
Beware that ANY substances you might be persuaded to use MAY dramatically reduce the effectiveness of real medicine. Many people have died because they thought taking something ‘natural’ was ok, without realizing that it reacts with the other medicine they were taking.
Medical treatment might not offer much hope, but it offers SOME hope. Removing that hope by introducing dangerous drug interactions isn’t going to help him.
Trust the immensely intelligent people who are treating him and ask them for advice. Many of the non-educated people on here are quite happy to play dice with other people’s lives, you can take the choice not to.
Edit: It’s appaling that these barely literate, fantasy-practising people seriously think they have THE answer when legions of the world’s cleverest people don’t. Such deluded ignorance must cause agony on a scale we can only guess at.

Please, please, please, in your understandable desperation to help your step dad, do not resort to this sort of quackery. It is not going to help him and is not going to do anything but give you false hope which is doomed to be dashed! Some things just cannot be cured in the current state of medical knowledge and unfortunately mesothelioma is one of them. Don’t waste your money and probably cause you both additional heartache by attending charlatans, all be it often well meaning ones.
Flashflood you really should be ashamed of yourself, supporting this tom-foolery does no one any good.Rhianna’s answers are not designed as a personal attack on you, but in this, as in so many cases, are an attempt to save the individual or their relative from the sort of witchcraft and chicanery that should have died out in the 15th Century. It defies logic that so many ill advised individuals continue to give alternative so called therapies credence. They has no basis in fact and to cling onto them smells frankly of the perverse.
