Can you get Asbestosis from standing next to an Asbestos fence?

Well the other day (a clear, sunny day that is), i was sitting next to a old broken asbestos fence (didn’t realise at the time). There were also other broken slabs of it leant up against the fence. I was sitting and standing pretty close it to it (and obviously breathing, as living things do).

so the question is, will I be living in 30 years? could i have inhaled one of those cancerous particles (it only takes one). i’m 17 now, so if i die with mesothelioma when i’m middle aged, that’ll evidently not be so good.

on the other had, i wasn’t kicking it and breaking it up etc, i was simply in very close proximity.

man, i’m panicking like the hypochondriac i am. i’ve even got a sore throat. fml.

I was exposed to asbestos. Can I get checked for negative side-affects from exposure this soon afterwards?

I was exposed two nights in a row for approximately 3 hours each night. I currently have an unrelated respiratory infection…does this increase my chances of being affected?
Is their any way that I can get checked for symptoms of mesothelioma or other such asbestos related diseases this soon after exposure? If necessary i’d like to start treatment as soon as possible. Thanks
